Master carver Julian Schmechel offers wood carving courses throughout the year, where all levels of ability are catered for. Prior wood carving experience is not required, as courses/lessons are fitted to suit the pupil's individual requirements.
INTRODUCTORY
Learn how to carve lettering, animal tracks, leaves and simple designs; skills that form the foundation for more a lifetime in wood carving. In addition, learn how to select, use, sharpen and care for carving chisels, and which types to purchase when wishing to progress further in this ancient craft.

INTERMEDIATE
A course designed for those with some experience of wood carving, who wish to progress further, and learn how to carve in detail both animal head studies and heraldic crests. If a pupil has a preferred subject matter, that may also be catered for.

ADVANCED
A course teaching the carving of either trophy fish or duck decoys. This is advanced work that requires the pupil to have a solid grounding in wood carving. Challenging, but the results make the effort very worthwhile!
