Furniture Makers & Wood Carvers

Nestling in the shadow of the brooding Cabrach hills, lies the workshop and showroom of Burnside of Ballintomb Furniture Makers & Wood Carvers.

Here, proprietor and master craftsman, Julian Schmechel, uses the knowledge and experience of four generations, to produce by hand, the most breathtaking bespoke pieces, in sumptuous, locally grown hardwoods.

Julian draws upon his passion for the natural world and native woodlands, as his inspiration for his work, with carvings of British wildlife being a speciality. Stags, roe deer, hares, salmon and foxes, all feature in work adorning his showroom, whilst carvings of Celtic, Pictish and heraldic designs, are inspired by Aberdeenshires rich history.
